Monochromatic

I was in a bit of a rush to get dressed this morning as I was meeting my cousin. I basically just picked a color scheme for my outfit and ran with it, hoping for the best. I'm quite pleased with the result though, as it  got me to dig out a handbag that I haven't worn in so long...  I love rediscovering forgotten pieces from my closet!

Jumpsuit: Topshop
Shoes: Topshop
Handbag: Bought in a market in Turkey (I found out later it was probably supposed to be a Louis Vuitton knockoff, whoopsie!)
Cuff: from Peru
Scarf (tied to handbag): From Beacon's Closet in NYC
Glasses: Vintage Christian Lacroix (... YES they are prescription)

H&M and Maison Martin Margiela collab?!???!

Rumor has it that H&M "has tapped Maison Martin Margiela to produce a one-off collection that will go on sale worldwide on Nov. 15" (WWD). If this is true, I. Will. Lose. My. Shit. But actually. I've been waiting for this moment since the S/S 2009 collection (3 years later, I'm still obsessed with the wig coat), so if you come between me and a piece of Margiela clothing on November 15th, I will fight you.

Feather clutch

I made this feather clutch myself from an ugly makeup pouch I got as a gift with purchase. I was actually quite skeptical of how it would turn out but I am pleasantly surprised with the result! My friend asked me to make one for her as well so I'll try doing a post on how to make them soon.

Dress: H&M from a long, long time ago
Shoes: some store in NYC
Shades: Vintage Vuarnet
Necklace: Peru
Watch: Vintage Longines
All rings: heirlooms and gifts

Fur for Summer

It's almost summer here in Montreal, but this past week, evenings have been unusually chilly. On the upside, I can wear fur for one last time before a while :). I have several fur coats (as well as countless other types of fur garments, see a pattern here?...) However, this one is my absolute favorite. I can't say for sure which type of fur it is, as I bought it in a thrift store, but lots of people have told me it looks like mink fur. Regardless of what type it is, I just love how soft and how shiny it remains, no matter how many times I wear it!

Fur coat: Vintage
Dress: Vintage
Shoes: Topshop
Headscarf: Vintage
Necklace: Gift from my grandmother

Hair Cuff

I made this hair cuff from a napkin ring. I added adhesive foam strips inside of it to hold my hair tighter.

Sorry I couldn't resist throwing in a picture of my cat Rufus. In my experience, though, seeing a kitty never ruined anyone's day :).

Jumpsuit: American Apparel
Blazer: hand-me-down from my friend
Clutch: borrowed from my cousin
Necklace: bought in Peru
Shoes: Vintage Yves Saint Laurent
Hair cuff: made from napkin ring.
Lipgloss: Chanel in Pink Pulsion

Menswear

I love menswear. Not 'menswear inspired womenswear', menswear menswear. Whenever I'm shopping for leather goods, I always make a point to visit the men's section. I find men's leatherware have cleaner lines and look more timeless. They just have that classic, luxury feel to them. The added bonus of checking out the men's section is that you can sometimes luck out when less common sizes are on sale (i.e. Men's XS, yay!). Case in point: when I visited Woodbury Common last year, as per my family's sacred Columbus Day tradition, I scored a men's Burberry jacket on sale for 70% off!! This was especially elating considering that the women's section looked like a Foot Locker store after a Habs game 7 win... I'll try to post a picture of said jacket soon!

The Daphne Guinness Collection Sold to Benefit the Isabella Blow Foundation

To anyone who knows me at all, it's no secret that I am utterly obsessed with Daphne Guinness' style. Christie's is auctioning off part of her wardrobe to benefit the Isabella Blow Foundation. The bad news is that most items probably cost more than what pathetic salary I will be earning this summer. The good news is that all the pieces to be auctioned off are pictured in the brochure for you to lust over :).

See the collection here.

Hardware Choker

My parents are total pack rats, so whenever I'm bored I love rummaging through the basement to see what I can find. Today I found this piece of hardware which I thought would make a great DIY necklace. In this case, I use 'DIY' loosely because you literally just have to unscrew it... I love the look of it with my hair worn inside the necklace and the bolt visible!

Leather panel dress: Bedo, shoes: Topshop, sunglasses: Dsquared, necklace: DIY.
